Boycott Shooters Choice of West Columbia, SC

I will never, and i mean NEVER shop in that store again. Here is why.

earlier today, i went to their store, as they are local to me in lexington/west columbia SC. I went to pickup little things like a ar trigger guard and any mags i could find. Low and behold i spied a 20 round pmag. I jumped on it.. and the trigger guard (Palmetto was sold out of both)

i received excellent service, so much so that i was asked if i wanted 30 round pmags. shocked i said yes, if you have any but i thought you didnt have any. they had a good bit in the back room he said and asked how many i wanted. I said, 2. I wont be greedy or try to buy them out... So i left, texted my co-worker who's 70 years old, told him, and he decided to head that way... texted another friend of mine, and he waited 30 min and went..

my co-worker said he was told they dont have any and whomever told him they did is whom he needs to go get them from by a guy in a grey shirt with a salt and pepper beard n glasses.

My buddy who went after my co worker wnet in and was told sure, here's 2. ahve a good day .. i dont know who helped him.

I was back out this evening with the wife to eat, and decided since i felt bad that my 70 year old co-worker drove 20 miles to get them, and was told rudly they didnt have them, to try my luck for him.

unbeknownst to me, i got the same guy that waited on my co-worker. this guy talked to me like i was a dog, I've never felt so disrespected in a business in my life. Here's roughly how it went down :

GreyClown : have you all been helped?
Me: No i havent. I was wondering if you had any more of those Pmags left in the back room over there (pointing)
greyclown: No we dont have any of those. sorry we have DPMS steel 30 rounders for 27.00 each.
me: i was here a few hours ago and was told you had a few in the back room over there for sale (pointing again)
GreyClown : whos selling you them.
me: well you hopefuly will be
Greyclown: no wasnt me, you better go get them from whomever sold you them.
me : well it was a gentleman in a white t shirt with short black hair and beard.
greyclown : those are not for sale, we have DPMS 30 round metal mags for 27 each ... (walks off)

alot is missing in tonality and expression obviously, but the guy was a total jerk.

Not to mention trying to sell DMPS metal mags for 27 each, is highway robbery as well.
I'm usually pretty laid back, but anyone to treat a customer, or another person for that matter how this guy treated and spoke to me, well that type of company needs to no longer have my money.. its not like they were busy as all get out, and its not like Palmetto State Armory doesnt have 2 stores within 20 miles from that location as well.

Whatever this guys name is, i hope he knows he just lost his company a permanent customer.

sorry for the rant, but i dont want any of our fellow Firearm enthusiasts ripped off by this place, much less to be treated this badly.

AR-15 Basics

I like to build AR-15’s.  These are the civilian equivalent of the M-16 and M-4 Rifles currently in use by the US Government.

To build an AR you need some basic tools.

Punches, Hammer, and a razor blade is what I use as well as a flat head screwdriver.  (some parts require hex keys but nothing too crazy)

The main part of the Rifle is the lower Receiver. It is considered by the BATF (bureau of alcohol tobacco and firearms)as the Firearm.  Lower receivers typically go for anywhere from 50.00 up to 300.00 depending on the manufacturer.  The Lowers I purchase from Palmetto State Armory(www.palmettostatearmory.com) typically go for 89.00 to 120.00 each depending on sales, type, and availability. They look like this generally :

Once you have your lower receiver you need to have the lower parts kit to build it out.  This kit is sold by many retailers  but since we’re right here in Columbia I’m gonna link all from Palmetto State Armory. (besides usually they are the best prices I can find anywhere as well.

The Typical Lower parts kit can be found for around 50-80.00.  Palmetto sells the classic (without a aftermarket pistol grip for 54.95 normally and it looks like this :

Once you’ve gotten that parts kit, and your lower you need to decide what type of stock you want to run with.  There are 2 basic types.  The M -16 full rifle stock, or the M-4 Carbine Stock style and its variants. For simplicity I will only go into detail about the standard stocks and not the variants.

the M-16 rifle stock kit contains, a buffer, a spring, a rifle length buffer tube, a spacer, a screw and the stock itself.  It is sold on PSA’s website for 74.95 usually and looks like this :

The M-4 kit contains much of the similar stuff except is shorter.  It has a 6 position adjustable stock, thus has an adjustable buffer tube, a buffer spring, a carbine buffer, and a M4 standard stock. It is sold on psa’s website for 49.95 currently and looks like this :

Once you h ave all these kits and assembled you have a complete lower, which looks like this  for the M-4

Or like this for the M-16  Rifle Lower :

These you can also buy from PSA for 239.99 fully assembled if memory serves me correctly.

The next step is to buy your upper.  You can either buy a complete upper or you can build them yourselves. For a first time builder I’d buy it complete unless you just like a challenge.  Traditionaly the upper is the most expensive part/s.  PSA sells many uppers complete.  The basics of a upper are the Upper receiver, the barrel, the bolt, and the carrier group.  If you buy a complete upper they come with all that.  There are also three main types of “length” of uppers.  The Carbine which is 16” long, the rifle which is 20” long, and the mid-length which is 16” long but has the gas system in the middle of the barrel.  The Mid length is more complex than the other two and is not found to my knowledge in military applications.

The rifle upper looks like this  in its A3/A4 setup (without fixed sight and with a rail system on the upper receiver)  It can sell for anywhere from 450-650.  It has a fixed front sight post, and a 20 inch barrel as well as 16 inch hand guard.

This Upper below is considered the standard issue A2.  A2 means the sights / carry handle on the upper is the 2nd revision.  You can buy them this way, however Palmetto does not yet offer that upper receiver style.

The M4 style upper, is a carbine (short barrel) upper. It is 16 inches in length as opposed to 20, and believe me it really makes a difference for Close quarter combat situations, while still providing a decent distance weapon.  The uppers use a a3/a4 rail setup however you can get a “detachable” carry handle to make it look similar to the A2 upper previously mentioned/shown. The M4 upper sells for around the same price range as the 20” upper as well usually.

This is a typical standard M4 upper, it is typically called M4A1 in the AR World :

Notice the 6 inch hand guard, and the shorter barrel.  You can purchase a backup iron sight for this that flips up, or you can buy the detachable carry handle. Again, all these are called “complete uppers” and can be bought totally disassembled.  To me assembly is half the fun, but for a beginner I’d start with a complete upper.  I did. If you are a budget minded builder though, buying the parts one at a time over a long period allows you the luxury of having a 1000.00 gun that you built for 600-700 dollars while both saving you money and spreading its cost out over a manageable period of time for those of us who don’t have a lot of spending money.

The wonderful thing about these ar’s is that they are very configurable.  It has been called in the past the “Barbie doll” of guns because of all the accessories.

Here are some basic building links for AR’s.  There is a LOT of information out there, including Youtube videos and diagrams and walk throughs.  There is also a nice web community called www.ar15.com that can show you many variations and how to’s. Like anything, your best friend is to research it. Be it from online sources, or from friends who know how to build them.

1992 Mustang LX 5.0/Automatic For Sale

I'm trying to help my brother sell his 92 mustang LX. He's in the military and isnt in town, his wife is having to move to his duty station, and the car has to go.

it's a 92 LX Ford Mustang.  True 5.0 car. Automatic. White with grey/black interior.  It needs work. Car has been sitting for about 6-9 months.  He had bought it as a driver / fixer upper as being driven, but things happened and he joined up so now its for sale.    It does run, but it has a bunch of annoying little problems that would make it a good fixer upper, daily driver once the minor annoyances are fixed, and or a drag car.  It has white pony rims on it as well.

Some of the known issues are as follows : Door locks are incredibly hard to unlock on driver door, and passenger as well.  Front window is cracked. Needs some body work on roof / front passenger fender.  Leaks tranny fluid from pan.  Electric fan needs to be re-wired to run when ignition is on.  Other than that im not sure much other issues with it mechanically. Cosmetically the seats will need recovered, needs an ashtrey door, a arm rest cover, and thats bout it interior wise.  exterior will want paint but if your fixing it up who cares.

Car will come with a host of parts, in the trunk.  Things like new hoses, gaskets, etc to make it more dependable and what not are in there but i have not yet took inventory. I can get over to his place to take inventory upon request.  The car currently probably needs the battery charged and fluid in the tranny checked / topped off and the fan wired on to be driven.  If I have to clean it and do all this im more apt to be a bit more rigid on the price.

To start we're asking 3000.00 obro for the car. We are negotible, and if you just want the car and come get it as it sits then im more apt to work with you on the price. makes sense? Again the price is negotiable, but remember his wife is gonna use the cash to move to be with him where he's stationed and he's serving our country so lets not try to rip him off either. fair offers are always considered. Lemme know what you think, and or need / have questions about.

The Top 12 Reasons to vote Democrat....

1. I voted Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I've decided to marry my German Shepherd.

2. I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.

3. I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

4. I voted Democrat because Freedom of Speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

5. I voted Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.

6. I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt way in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.

7. I voted Democrat because I'm not concerned about millions of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.

8. I voted Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits, and we should take away the social security from those who paid into it.

9. I voted Democrat because I believe that businesses should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the Democrats see fit.

10. I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.

11. I voted Democrat because I think that it's better to pay billions for their oil to people who hate us, but not drill our own because it might upset some endangered beetle, gopher or fish.

12. I voted Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my a**, it's unlikely that I'll ever have another point of view.

Liar in Chief!!!

He blatantly lies AGAIN!!!

“Ultimately, I’m confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.” bho 4/3/12

I doubt that the self-professed “Constitutional scholar” doesn’t know that the Supreme Court has struck down laws like obamacare only 1,315 times before. He uses his old tactic of telling a lie loud enough or often enough that the “sheeple” begin to believe it!

DON’T BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“That's quite a sequence of lies by the President, all packed into a single, steaming sentence of manure:

A "strong majority" of Congress? NOT!!! The bill was passed using a budget reconciliation maneuver that allowed it to bypass a Senate filibuster with just 51 votes.

A "democratically elected" Congress? NOT!!! Actually, the 111th Congress had roughly a half-dozen appointed Senators and one turncoat (Arlen Specter), elected as a Republican but who switched to the Democrat Party.

Unprecedented step of overturning a law? NOT!!! Oh, gee, Mr. Constitutional Scholar, as of 2002, the Supreme Court had only struck 1,315 laws down as unconstitutional, the first in 1803.

Does the arrogance of this President know no bounds?”  (http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2012/04/constitutional-scholar-slash-golfer-in.html)

“The list would be too long for this format, but the US Supreme Court has declared a total of 1,315 laws (as of 2002, the most recent year for which statistics are available; the database may be updated in 2012) unconstitutional using the process of judicial review.

The first time the Court declared a federal law unconstitutional was in Chief Justice John Marshall's opinion for Marbury v. Madison, 5 US 137 (1803), in which he asserted Section 13 of the Judiciary Act of 1789 was unconstitutional because it extended to the Supreme Court an act of original jurisdiction not explicitly granted by the Constitution.

Unconstitutional and Preempted Laws 1789-2002
According to the GPO (Government Printing Office Database):

1789-2002 Acts of Congress Held as Unconstitutional..............................158

1789-2002 State Statutes held unconstitutional......................................935

1789-2002 City Ordinances held unconstitutional....................................222

1789-2002 State and City laws preempted by Federal laws.......................224

Total State, Local and Federal Laws Declared Unconstitutional................1,315

Total State and Local Law Preempted by Federal Laws..............................224
