Boycott Shooters Choice of West Columbia, SC

I will never, and i mean NEVER shop in that store again. Here is why.

earlier today, i went to their store, as they are local to me in lexington/west columbia SC. I went to pickup little things like a ar trigger guard and any mags i could find. Low and behold i spied a 20 round pmag. I jumped on it.. and the trigger guard (Palmetto was sold out of both)

i received excellent service, so much so that i was asked if i wanted 30 round pmags. shocked i said yes, if you have any but i thought you didnt have any. they had a good bit in the back room he said and asked how many i wanted. I said, 2. I wont be greedy or try to buy them out... So i left, texted my co-worker who's 70 years old, told him, and he decided to head that way... texted another friend of mine, and he waited 30 min and went..

my co-worker said he was told they dont have any and whomever told him they did is whom he needs to go get them from by a guy in a grey shirt with a salt and pepper beard n glasses.

My buddy who went after my co worker wnet in and was told sure, here's 2. ahve a good day .. i dont know who helped him.

I was back out this evening with the wife to eat, and decided since i felt bad that my 70 year old co-worker drove 20 miles to get them, and was told rudly they didnt have them, to try my luck for him.

unbeknownst to me, i got the same guy that waited on my co-worker. this guy talked to me like i was a dog, I've never felt so disrespected in a business in my life. Here's roughly how it went down :

GreyClown : have you all been helped?
Me: No i havent. I was wondering if you had any more of those Pmags left in the back room over there (pointing)
greyclown: No we dont have any of those. sorry we have DPMS steel 30 rounders for 27.00 each.
me: i was here a few hours ago and was told you had a few in the back room over there for sale (pointing again)
GreyClown : whos selling you them.
me: well you hopefuly will be
Greyclown: no wasnt me, you better go get them from whomever sold you them.
me : well it was a gentleman in a white t shirt with short black hair and beard.
greyclown : those are not for sale, we have DPMS 30 round metal mags for 27 each ... (walks off)

alot is missing in tonality and expression obviously, but the guy was a total jerk.

Not to mention trying to sell DMPS metal mags for 27 each, is highway robbery as well.
I'm usually pretty laid back, but anyone to treat a customer, or another person for that matter how this guy treated and spoke to me, well that type of company needs to no longer have my money.. its not like they were busy as all get out, and its not like Palmetto State Armory doesnt have 2 stores within 20 miles from that location as well.

Whatever this guys name is, i hope he knows he just lost his company a permanent customer.

sorry for the rant, but i dont want any of our fellow Firearm enthusiasts ripped off by this place, much less to be treated this badly.

AR-15 Basics

I like to build AR-15’s.  These are the civilian equivalent of the M-16 and M-4 Rifles currently in use by the US Government.

To build an AR you need some basic tools.

Punches, Hammer, and a razor blade is what I use as well as a flat head screwdriver.  (some parts require hex keys but nothing too crazy)

The main part of the Rifle is the lower Receiver. It is considered by the BATF (bureau of alcohol tobacco and firearms)as the Firearm.  Lower receivers typically go for anywhere from 50.00 up to 300.00 depending on the manufacturer.  The Lowers I purchase from Palmetto State Armory(www.palmettostatearmory.com) typically go for 89.00 to 120.00 each depending on sales, type, and availability. They look like this generally :

Once you have your lower receiver you need to have the lower parts kit to build it out.  This kit is sold by many retailers  but since we’re right here in Columbia I’m gonna link all from Palmetto State Armory. (besides usually they are the best prices I can find anywhere as well.

The Typical Lower parts kit can be found for around 50-80.00.  Palmetto sells the classic (without a aftermarket pistol grip for 54.95 normally and it looks like this :

Once you’ve gotten that parts kit, and your lower you need to decide what type of stock you want to run with.  There are 2 basic types.  The M -16 full rifle stock, or the M-4 Carbine Stock style and its variants. For simplicity I will only go into detail about the standard stocks and not the variants.

the M-16 rifle stock kit contains, a buffer, a spring, a rifle length buffer tube, a spacer, a screw and the stock itself.  It is sold on PSA’s website for 74.95 usually and looks like this :

The M-4 kit contains much of the similar stuff except is shorter.  It has a 6 position adjustable stock, thus has an adjustable buffer tube, a buffer spring, a carbine buffer, and a M4 standard stock. It is sold on psa’s website for 49.95 currently and looks like this :

Once you h ave all these kits and assembled you have a complete lower, which looks like this  for the M-4

Or like this for the M-16  Rifle Lower :

These you can also buy from PSA for 239.99 fully assembled if memory serves me correctly.

The next step is to buy your upper.  You can either buy a complete upper or you can build them yourselves. For a first time builder I’d buy it complete unless you just like a challenge.  Traditionaly the upper is the most expensive part/s.  PSA sells many uppers complete.  The basics of a upper are the Upper receiver, the barrel, the bolt, and the carrier group.  If you buy a complete upper they come with all that.  There are also three main types of “length” of uppers.  The Carbine which is 16” long, the rifle which is 20” long, and the mid-length which is 16” long but has the gas system in the middle of the barrel.  The Mid length is more complex than the other two and is not found to my knowledge in military applications.

The rifle upper looks like this  in its A3/A4 setup (without fixed sight and with a rail system on the upper receiver)  It can sell for anywhere from 450-650.  It has a fixed front sight post, and a 20 inch barrel as well as 16 inch hand guard.

This Upper below is considered the standard issue A2.  A2 means the sights / carry handle on the upper is the 2nd revision.  You can buy them this way, however Palmetto does not yet offer that upper receiver style.

The M4 style upper, is a carbine (short barrel) upper. It is 16 inches in length as opposed to 20, and believe me it really makes a difference for Close quarter combat situations, while still providing a decent distance weapon.  The uppers use a a3/a4 rail setup however you can get a “detachable” carry handle to make it look similar to the A2 upper previously mentioned/shown. The M4 upper sells for around the same price range as the 20” upper as well usually.

This is a typical standard M4 upper, it is typically called M4A1 in the AR World :

Notice the 6 inch hand guard, and the shorter barrel.  You can purchase a backup iron sight for this that flips up, or you can buy the detachable carry handle. Again, all these are called “complete uppers” and can be bought totally disassembled.  To me assembly is half the fun, but for a beginner I’d start with a complete upper.  I did. If you are a budget minded builder though, buying the parts one at a time over a long period allows you the luxury of having a 1000.00 gun that you built for 600-700 dollars while both saving you money and spreading its cost out over a manageable period of time for those of us who don’t have a lot of spending money.

The wonderful thing about these ar’s is that they are very configurable.  It has been called in the past the “Barbie doll” of guns because of all the accessories.

Here are some basic building links for AR’s.  There is a LOT of information out there, including Youtube videos and diagrams and walk throughs.  There is also a nice web community called www.ar15.com that can show you many variations and how to’s. Like anything, your best friend is to research it. Be it from online sources, or from friends who know how to build them.

1992 Mustang LX 5.0/Automatic For Sale

I'm trying to help my brother sell his 92 mustang LX. He's in the military and isnt in town, his wife is having to move to his duty station, and the car has to go.

it's a 92 LX Ford Mustang.  True 5.0 car. Automatic. White with grey/black interior.  It needs work. Car has been sitting for about 6-9 months.  He had bought it as a driver / fixer upper as being driven, but things happened and he joined up so now its for sale.    It does run, but it has a bunch of annoying little problems that would make it a good fixer upper, daily driver once the minor annoyances are fixed, and or a drag car.  It has white pony rims on it as well.

Some of the known issues are as follows : Door locks are incredibly hard to unlock on driver door, and passenger as well.  Front window is cracked. Needs some body work on roof / front passenger fender.  Leaks tranny fluid from pan.  Electric fan needs to be re-wired to run when ignition is on.  Other than that im not sure much other issues with it mechanically. Cosmetically the seats will need recovered, needs an ashtrey door, a arm rest cover, and thats bout it interior wise.  exterior will want paint but if your fixing it up who cares.

Car will come with a host of parts, in the trunk.  Things like new hoses, gaskets, etc to make it more dependable and what not are in there but i have not yet took inventory. I can get over to his place to take inventory upon request.  The car currently probably needs the battery charged and fluid in the tranny checked / topped off and the fan wired on to be driven.  If I have to clean it and do all this im more apt to be a bit more rigid on the price.

To start we're asking 3000.00 obro for the car. We are negotible, and if you just want the car and come get it as it sits then im more apt to work with you on the price. makes sense? Again the price is negotiable, but remember his wife is gonna use the cash to move to be with him where he's stationed and he's serving our country so lets not try to rip him off either. fair offers are always considered. Lemme know what you think, and or need / have questions about.

The Top 12 Reasons to vote Democrat....

1. I voted Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I've decided to marry my German Shepherd.

2. I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.

3. I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

4. I voted Democrat because Freedom of Speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

5. I voted Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.

6. I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt way in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.

7. I voted Democrat because I'm not concerned about millions of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.

8. I voted Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits, and we should take away the social security from those who paid into it.

9. I voted Democrat because I believe that businesses should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the Democrats see fit.

10. I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.

11. I voted Democrat because I think that it's better to pay billions for their oil to people who hate us, but not drill our own because it might upset some endangered beetle, gopher or fish.

12. I voted Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my a**, it's unlikely that I'll ever have another point of view.

Liar in Chief!!!

He blatantly lies AGAIN!!!

“Ultimately, I’m confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.” bho 4/3/12

I doubt that the self-professed “Constitutional scholar” doesn’t know that the Supreme Court has struck down laws like obamacare only 1,315 times before. He uses his old tactic of telling a lie loud enough or often enough that the “sheeple” begin to believe it!

DON’T BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“That's quite a sequence of lies by the President, all packed into a single, steaming sentence of manure:

A "strong majority" of Congress? NOT!!! The bill was passed using a budget reconciliation maneuver that allowed it to bypass a Senate filibuster with just 51 votes.

A "democratically elected" Congress? NOT!!! Actually, the 111th Congress had roughly a half-dozen appointed Senators and one turncoat (Arlen Specter), elected as a Republican but who switched to the Democrat Party.

Unprecedented step of overturning a law? NOT!!! Oh, gee, Mr. Constitutional Scholar, as of 2002, the Supreme Court had only struck 1,315 laws down as unconstitutional, the first in 1803.

Does the arrogance of this President know no bounds?”  (http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2012/04/constitutional-scholar-slash-golfer-in.html)

“The list would be too long for this format, but the US Supreme Court has declared a total of 1,315 laws (as of 2002, the most recent year for which statistics are available; the database may be updated in 2012) unconstitutional using the process of judicial review.

The first time the Court declared a federal law unconstitutional was in Chief Justice John Marshall's opinion for Marbury v. Madison, 5 US 137 (1803), in which he asserted Section 13 of the Judiciary Act of 1789 was unconstitutional because it extended to the Supreme Court an act of original jurisdiction not explicitly granted by the Constitution.

Unconstitutional and Preempted Laws 1789-2002
According to the GPO (Government Printing Office Database):

1789-2002 Acts of Congress Held as Unconstitutional..............................158

1789-2002 State Statutes held unconstitutional......................................935

1789-2002 City Ordinances held unconstitutional....................................222

1789-2002 State and City laws preempted by Federal laws.......................224

Total State, Local and Federal Laws Declared Unconstitutional................1,315

Total State and Local Law Preempted by Federal Laws..............................224

Total Laws Overturned, all governments..............................................1,539”

Interesting Email about the law student needing 3k for birth control

The name Sandra Fluke has been in the headlines, a media star after testifying at a Congressional hearing to demand government insurance pay for her birth control efforts, and subsequently suffering criticism from Rush Limbaugh on his radio show. Disregarding the pros and cons of Ms. Fluke's appearance or Mr. Limbaugh's comments, a physics professor, obviously a wise man with analytical brilliance has delved into the depths of the problem and reveals his conclusions below.  Remember, I don't make this stuff up, just expedite its forward progress.

Physics professor analyzes Sandra Fluke’s plea for birth control expense coverage:
Sandra Fluke, a law student at Georgetown University, appeared before a Congressional Committee this week. She was lamenting that no one would subsidize her birth control expenses, which she claimed would amount to $3000 during her three years in law school. After watching Ms. Fluke describe her desperate situation, I set to thinking of ways to help her out of her crisis.
First, of course I had to pass through the grieving period I experienced after hearing of her inhumane treatment at the hands of the Georgetown administration and our Government – what cruelty lurks in the heart of men that they would leave this poor woman to fend for herself when all she wanted to do was have sex seven times a day (see my analysis below).

Once I recovered from my grief, I set to thinking about ways to help this poor girl. Being a physicist, I sat down with my calculator and worked through some numbers. Ms. Fluke’s expense account for birth control (aka sexual entertainment) was claimed to be $3000 for three years at law school. Let’s presume that as an educated woman she wants to be doubly safe and uses both birth control pills to prevent pregnancy and condoms to prevent STD (sexually transmitted disease).

Using the Wal-Mart cost for birth control pills of $9 per month, her birth control pills will cost her $324 for her entire law school career. This leaves only $2676 for her condoms.

I went to Amazon.com, and found quality condoms available for 33 cents each in packages of 60 condoms each. This cost includes tax and shipping. Since she has $2676 for her 33 cent condoms, she will be buying 8109 condoms during her law school “career”.

To use her 8109 condoms (remember, $3000 was Ms. Flukes’ own number) she would have to have sex 7 times a day. This number presumes that she has sex ten times a day on Sundays, when she has more free time.

So, having worked through these numbers, I have some suggestions for Ms. Fluke to help her work through her crisis:

1. Find dates who are gentlemanly enough to either provide their own condoms, or at least split the cost with her. Selection criteria is the key to this one.

2. Spend more time studying. Even seven “quickies” a day will seriously cut into quality study time. This would not only save money but would improve her education as well.

Just trying to help out a starving student.

BTW, the average starting salary of new Georgetown Law School graduates is $160,000 a year, FYI.

An interesting Article on our President

A MOSAIC: OBAMA, ISLAM, COMMUNISM

I’ve made it no secret. I believe Barack Obama is a colossal fraud and that his true mission leading up to, and during his reign as president, is far more sinister than most people are willing to believe.
Arguing about the legitimacy of Barack Obama always gets mired in minutia — single issues – because people don’t stand back and look at the big picture. We argue Reverend Wright, or Bill Ayres, or socialism or the suspicious birth certificate, and so on. The left accuses the right of dirty politics. The right accuses the left of protecting a non-patriot.
To understand the real person behind that endearing facade is to know every segment of his life and look at him in a mosaic. Mosaic art is made of many tiles fitted together. Each tile has shapes and colors but no form. It’s those formless tiles that we waste time arguing about because none of them show the big picture. But in order to know the truth we must see all the tiles in place, for then they are no longer just shapes and colors, they show the entire mural of who and what Barack Obama really is.
So let’s start with one tile after another and put them together like a jigsaw puzzle.
1) Obama’s mother had an affair with and married an African-Kenyan, a Muslim.
2) There is also plethora of literature to suggest that Obama’s father was a committed communist at the time he and Obama’s mother were involved in their relationship.
3) Obama’s mother divorced his father, and then remarried to another man who was also a Muslim and citizen of Indonesia.
4) Barack Obama lived mostly in environments dominated by Islam until he was ten years old.
5) Obama’s religion was listed in his Indonesian school as “Islam.” With an Islamic father and stepfather, and registered as an Islamic, it is reasonable to assume he was subjected to Islamic indoctrination and teachings.
6) He went by the name Barry Soetoro during the years he was adopted by his stepfather.
7) After age ten, his mother left the stepfather and Barry Soetoro returned to Hawaii where he was cared for by his maternal grandparents. (Obama’s grandparents were known to have strong political/socialist leanings)
9) Obama’s close mentor during his high school years was Frank Marshall Davis, an ardent member of the CPUSA (Communist Party)
10) Obama’s roommates during his first two years at Occidental College, California, were Muslims from Pakistan.
11) In 1981, Obama traveled with his Muslim friends to Pakistan on vacation, when Pakistan was in political turmoil and most American visas were not accepted. (This was in addition to a leg of his journey to see his mother in Indonesia) This leaves open the yet unanswered question of what passport he traveled with. (Unlikely it was American)
12) I have found no evidence that Barack Obama ever legally changed his name back from Barry Soetoro
13) There is no evidence that Barry Soetoro, AKA Barack Obama, changed his citizenship back from Indonesia to the United States or that he traveled and/or entered college with an American passport and/or I.D.
14) Following Occidental College, he enrolled in Columbia University and later Harvard. To this day, Obama does not explain why he — this “transparent” president — refuses to release any college/university records regarding his registration, finances, passports, birth records, school papers, writings, grades — nothing.
15) Despite many Columbia U. enrollees interviewed from that period, same major (political science), including George Stephanopolous, no one remembers Obama on campus or in class.
16) The former president of Manhattan Borough, Percy Sutton, a prominent attorney, (now deceased) revealed in 2008 that in the 1980′s, Obama was being supported and promoted by notorious radical Muslim cleric Dr. Khalid Al-Mansour who acted as an in-between for a wealthy Saudi named Al Waleed Bin Talal. The Saudi was interested in helping Obama get into Harvard. Sutton wrote a letter at the Al-Mansour’s request to help the Saudi, Bin Talal, get Obama into Harvard.
17) Raised by atheists and Muslims, never a Christian, Obama strangely becomes a Christian and joins the Trinity Christian Church headed by anti-American, Marxist, racist, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, in 1988. Obama not only attended this church for 20 years, he was deeply involved in its activities. Note: Being labeled as a “Christian” strongly helps achieving political power, certainly more than atheist or Muslim.
18) 1992, Wright presided over the marriage of Barack and Michelle Obama. However, there is no record that can be found of a prior relationship Obama had with any other women, until Michelle. No past girl friends.
19) Obama becomes deeply involved in Chicago politics, primarily mustering blacks to register to vote.
20) In 1991, Obama graduated law school and began writing his biography, “Dreams Of My Father”, an autobiography which is published in 1995. But why? Curiously, he’s a young man who has yet to accomplish much of anything significant, but he writes and publishes an autobiography?
21) Obama was instrumental in assisting the Jew-hating leader of the Nation of Islam, Louis Farrahkan, in formulating the Million-Man March on Washington in 1995.
22) With very little, or no experience as a practicing attorney, Obama decides to run for state senate. He is hand-picked by then state senator, Alice Palmer, D – Ill., to succeed her as she runs for the U.S. congress. Palmer wrote for the Communist Party newspaper, “People’s Daily World” and had appeared in the Soviet Union to attend the 27th congress of the Communist Party in 1986.
23) 1995, Obama’s political career for the Illinois State Senate was launched by communist advocate Alice Palmer at the home of William Ayres and Bernadine Dorn, known anti-American Marxists/Activists, and past terrorists. Obama also shares a table and worked closely with terrorist Ayres on the board of directors of the Woods Foundation
24) During his seven-year tenure as a state senator, Obama voted “Present” 129 times, thereby avoiding a left/right stand on selected issues.
25) Obama developed a close relationship with radical Islamic professor, Palestinian, Rashid Khalidi, who he associated with at the U. Of Chicago. In 2000, Khalidi held a fund raiser for Obama during his failed bid for the U.S. Congress.
26) Obama runs for and wins U.S. Senate seat in 2004. Almost immediately, he hits the ground running for president.
27) During the campaign, Obama is endorsed by many radical organizations, including the American Communist Party, while Palestinians in the Middle-East form phone banks to raise money for his election. Gaddafi refers to Obama as a Muslim.
28) Obama’s half brother Obongo “Roy” Obama is a Luo activist, militant Muslim and Marxist.
29) Obama’s Kenyan cousin, Odinga, whom Obama later supported in his quest for political power, is an avowed Marxist and militant Islamist dedicated toward establishing Sharia (Islamist) courts in Kenya.
30) After his election, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit says that Obama privately told him in confidence, “I am a Muslim.” (As reported in Israel Today, May 2010)
31) During his first trip as president to the Middle East, Obama speaks passionately to the Egyptian assembly, lauding his early life in a Muslim land….claiming that Islam has always been a great part of the American experience. (?)
32) During an interview on TV, Obama misspeaks: “John McCain has not made an issue of my Muslim faith.” To which George Stephanopolous corrects him, “You mean, your Christian faith.” (How many of us have made such a slip?)
33) Obama has hired one at least one devoted communist to be a part of his Czar team, Van Jones, who has since resigned. Many others are questionable. His 38 czars are not vetted by congress and supercede many of the functions normally within the purview of cabinet posts.
34) Obama has employed devout Muslims with connections to the Muslim Brotherhood in his White House staff and within the Department of Homeland Security. These people have access to the inner workings of our government and the highest of classified information. The top aide to Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, is a devout Islamic woman with family connections to the Muslim Brotherhood and Sisterhood.
35) Obama (and Eric Holder) do not permit the mentioning of Islam in any references to terrorism. Mentioning Islam in terrorist training for federal officers, is banned. The military’s Fort Hood massacre report — where 41 people were shot — does not mention Islam, or terror, or the Muslim shooter, Nidal Hassan, anywhere in the report, despite the obvious motivations. Eric Holder, when questioned in congress, will not acknowledge the existence of Islamic terrorism. Janet Napolitano is under orders to avoid the use of terms like “war on terror” or “Islamic terrorism” and instead, call it “Man-Caused Disasters”
36) Every act/decision of Barack Obama before and during the so-called Arab Spring has been to the advantage and support of the notorious Muslim Brotherhood, including the removal of Mubarak of Egypt, Gadaffi of Libya, the leader of Tunisia and now the effort toward removing Assad of Syria. In all these places, the Muslim Brotherhood is now rising to power. Interestingly enough, Obama did not call for regime change in Iran when their citizens took to the streets to demonstrate in 2009 and 2011.
The Muslim Brotherhood’s formative documents, and their many secret manifestos recovered by law enforcement agencies since, show — unambiguously — that their goals are to spread Islamic caliphates, and Sharia law, across the western world, to conquer from within, using deception and infiltration. This is a known fact to those who endeavor to pay attention.
Get the picture?
These are but the highlights, to keep it short. A more detailed list of horrors regarding Barack Obama could be found in any number of books, including:
1. The Manchurian President, by Aaron Klein
2. Radical-in-Chief, by Stanley Kurtz
3. Muslim Mafia, by P. David Gaubatz
4. Culture Of Corruption, by Michelle Malkin
These books are crammed with researched and documented facts, not off-hand right-wing opinions as some might claim. See for yourself.
In this article, I chose to omit any references to Obama’s legitimacy for holding the office of president in order to avoid distractions from the focus of this mosaic. There remains cause for many doubts in that areas as well, not limited to just the birth certificate.
The focus of this mosaic is simple: Obama’s highest of priorities are tied to a surreptitious socialist/communist revolution and his strong leanings toward Islamist causes, and perhaps, he is a non-acknowledging Muslim himself.
To those who are inclined to vote for this person in November, I ask:
Is he worth the risk to America?
I could list dozens of links to support all the items listed above, but that would consume another two pages or more. People reading this who want to know, are welcome to use Google just like I do.
But, to highlight…here’s a few:

Friday, March 2, 2012

Well hello everyone. I haven't posted anything entirely deep lately, largely because I've been just that busy.  I've had a ton of stuff on my mind, just no desire to put it to paper so to speak... Largely most of what I think I don't publicly post, simply because it is either too personal, or i don't want to offend or hurt someone.

Lately I've been thinking about life, relationships, and why people do what they do. a lot of this is based off of personal experiences, both first hand and observed. I will attempt to put my thoughts down here now and use some of the things I've observed as examples.

I have a very dear friend, perhaps the best friend i have, who has joined up in the armed forces.  He had been preparing for this event for close to a year, and in my humble opinion was doing so for the right reasons.  He is intelligent, educated, and tends to be ocd when it comes to researching things, so he did in fact do his homework on the subject.  I am very proud of him for  his efforts, and even now while he is training to become part of our military, i know hes doing what he's doing for the right reasons. These reasons are things like Family, his wife, his future family, his future career skills, etc.  He's literally doing it to better himself, his life situation, and hopefully his future. That is admirable in my book, and regardless of what outcome he has, be it successful, or kicked back a couple of weeks, or just not making it, I'm proud of his decisions to make his own life better, and to further his future possibilities.

Relationships between men and women however are very different from this situation with my buddy and his quest to better his future for himself, his family , and h is wife.  Yes, what he's doing effects that aspect a great deal, but its different in many ways.  How can someone who seems to have it all, loving kids, loving wife, nice house, decent cars, neglect things that make him a better person, or appear to neglect it? how is it that by failing to do what is needed by the family despite being told by friends and others that some people just choose to not listen, not do what is needed and thus risk the very family he supposedly is grateful to have? Better yet, how can someone that a person has been in love with, and in a long relationship with, one day when asked if they still loved that person, just say I don't know if i love you anymore, and then expect everything to be OK, and it not to be that big of a deal?  Words like that shatter people, to their very core.  I think that these days we don't really think about what we say, or at least not in a manner that folks used to think.  Back then though, people meant what they said and did what they said.  What happens when one person tries and tries so long to fix things, but the other doesn't? why doesn't that other person try? and if that other person didn't care, why are they still there? its a form of cruelty if you ask me, to torment the other person, without giving them any form of effort to fix things.. an act of torture. isn't it funny how some folks then will try, only after the other gives up, to put forth effort to try to save the relationship? I've seen it time and time again, friends, family, you name it. Same things happen.  One person is trying in the relationship, and the other doesn't seem to care enough to do jack shit, at least not relationship wise. Sure they'll do the normal expectations, but to really try to be in the relationship as a partner not as a body that is there.   OH and don't get me even started on those people that just keep it all inside, and expect one party to do all the work, while never talking about or making effort to fix things. Those are the worst to me because theres no way to know if your in torment, or actually being loved and that the other party is trying or not. Bottom line, if you love someone, SHOW IT. MAKE THE GOD DAMNED EFFORT.  IF it means being on medications to be normal FUCKING DO IT. If it means working 2 jobs to support your family, GET OFF YOUR ASS AND DO IT.  If it means talking to someone, and loving on someone simply by sitting on the couch against them loving on them by just simply holding hands, whatever.  FUCKING DO IT.  Cause if you don't, your gonna loose it all, if you already haven't. Its not fucking rocket science. And god help us the last part is if you don't wanna be in a relationship, and you know this, quit the bullshit, quit the excuses, financial or otherwise, and GET THE FUCK OUT. Your only making your life worse, their life worse, and in the long run a more difficult situation for all parties involved. If your worried theres not anyone else out there that will love you your wrong, but if your worried theres not anyone else out there who would put up with your bullshit you may be right lol. There's the edge, Jump.

Another relationship i see is family and age. Some things cant be changed, and aging is one of them. The sad part of it all is that you cant stop it. As we reach the winter of our lives its a sad fact that our bodies fall apart.  Be it from poor care, or genetics, or just roll of the dice, they do.  I see this alotalot of other mental ailments, that Ive talked about before.  Its sad to me to see how my grandfather has to deal with all the bureaucratic b.s. that goes along with it, and my grandmother doesn't have a clue whats going on or why shes had to move from one to another to another home, because of how she fights and is in the homes.  i promise you that if i ever get that bad, where i cant know who my family is or what I'm doing to hurt them, and don't know where i am or year, just please put me in a pasture and take me out of my misery. There is no quality of life if i cant enjoy those that i love, no matter how small a list that has grown to be, if i cant talk to you and enjoy you and vice versa, whats the point. I cant survive on my own at that point I'm more a burden than not, and no one needs that.

What is strange to me is how much we take for granted in life.  me for example, i work a normal state job. I don't make what others in my field make, hell i took a 35% pay cut to come here when i left UPS.  And yet, i still pay my bills, i still have nice things, and i still am fed, clothed, and have some spending money.  I am somewhat healthy, I have 2 dogs i keep, a cat, a pool a jacuzzi on the back deck, i own my home, i own cars, i have alot of crap materially. I provide a decent quality of life for myself and my wife.  I don't drink excessively habitually, in fact I've been considering giving it up entirely.  I don't do drugs, i don't smoke, I don't gamble.  I don't have any addictions that i really know of other than i love food maybe.  I don't just sit on my ass when I'm home, i do all sorts of things, yard work, housework, home renovation and repair, including upgrades, I like to read books that i buy instead of borrow from the library, I'm good with computers and my hands. I can and do hold down jobs for long periods of time, and usually wont leave a place of employment unless I'm forced to by either lay off or possible lay off.  I'm loyal to my friends and family.  I have been told I'm too nice, and that I'm took advantage of by friends and family because I'm overly nice.   Look at all i have to be thankful for there, yet most of the time i don't think about it. Hell i bet many folks don't look at me as hes a great guy they probably look at me and think what can i get him to do for me, or something along those lines.I submit this thought, what if, say life was like face book, and you could simply just drop someone from your friends list by a few clicks.  What if i took the above description of myself, by me, and applied ti to my friends. And those that were not matching its categories or like type, what if i just got rid of them from my life?  I apparently am an OK guy, and I'm sure there are alot of people who are in my life i could replace with little effort using these criterion. While i know not everyone is like minded, i bet you there are plenty of folks out there who would cherish me as me, and want to be part of my life, as i would theirs.  Just a thought, kinda out of randomness, but hey since I'm blogging i may as well be random.

In closing, I don't know where i really was going with all of this, I just started typing really and this is what poured out.  I hope that some of it made some of you think.  I Hope that you all realize life is too short to be unhappy, and find happiness when you can. I hope that you will also make the effort. Its not always 50/50 in any relationship, some days its 99/1 or 60/40 or something, but you gotta try if you value it.  The only time I can say don't, is when  you had for so long, and now you have nothing more to give. If that's the case, pack your shit and go, cause you did what you could. no need to torment yourself or the others any longer.

Where to meet for lunch...

A group of 15-year-old boys discussed where they should meet for lunch.
It was agreed they should meet at the Dairy Queen next to the Ocean View restaurant because they only had $6 between them and Jennie Johnson, that cute girl in Social Studies, lives on that street and they might see her and they can ride their bikes there.
Ten years later, the group of 25-year-old guys discussed where they should meet for lunch. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the beer was cheap, they had free snacks, the band was good, there was no cover and there were lots of cute girls.
Ten years later, at 35 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for lunch. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the booze was good, it was right near the gym and if they went late enough, there wouldn't be too many whiny little kids.
Ten years later, at 45 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for lunch. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the martinis were big, and the waitresses had nice boobs and wore tight pants.
Ten years later, at 55 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for lunch. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the prices were reasonable, the wine list was good and fish is good for your cholesterol.
Ten years later, at 65 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for lunch. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the lighting was good and they have an early bird special.
Ten years later, at 75 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for lunch. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the food was not too spicy, and the restaurant was handicapped accessible.
Ten years later, at 85 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for lunch. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because they had never been there before.

and that just about sums up life. Quite dismal in the end.
